Very quiet Wednesday. Woke up to rain and it was cloudy and drizzly until dinner. Humidity was high and no breeze. Stayed indoors and tried to make Jim's internet better.
Tuesday was more productive. The tanks were getting a little full, and when I looked for a place to dump, Jim pointed to a mound in the grass. I asked about the sink in the garage and he said it goes to the sump pump.
He came out later with a sheet with a drawing and some dimensions as to where the 18 inch square cap for the septic tank was. A little digging and we had it uncovered.
At first it looked a little full, but with a little probing it seemed all liquid which leaches out. The RV has a Sanicon system. It pumps out the tanks through a smaller hose, and in this case had 50 feet of old hose attached to reach the tank. Worked great, but we won't be filling any pools with those hoses!
The sanicon is hidden from view. The big hose below is a short section that connects to it and when turned on grinds up what is delivered and pushes it out the smaller slinky hose. Since it is under pressure, you can add regular garden hose to extend it reach.
Initially I had been leery of using it as the end was stuck in a double plastic bag and it didn't look like it's last episode ended well. In fact it didn't. After staring at it awhile it was clear the wrong fitting was on it and would have leaked. Aside from having SH*T everywhere, if you were in a campground it would be real embarrassing!!
Another day of Glamping on the island!
Sounds like a more tame version of the scene in the movie "RV" with the dump hoses. Glad you got that taken care of. You probably would need a permit to do that in California.~Bill
ReplyDeleteAh yes, dumping the tank. I remember down in LA at the races, but lets not go into that dump in any detail! Good old Michigan weather, I remember it well. Steady low 90's here. No 100's for a while.
ReplyDeleteNot your charming holiday post of days past. Bob "warned" me of the topic and I must admit I skimmed the contents and only looked at the people in the pictures. I'm sure it is a good thing to have the housekeeping chores done and so for that I am glad for you.
ReplyDeleteBetter you than me.....
