Sunday morning, Christie and Tyson came by with some fruit, and Lyn made some eggs, then we went off to tour Blackrocks on Presque Isle. A few miles from the Tourist park is an outcropping with a 1.5 loop one way road that is quite scenic. One stretch has some (you got it) Black rocks where people goad each other into jumping into the water. I said I'd do it if Jack did. Julie said she had his life jacket in the car, but I guess he didn't have his swimsuit!
The water is quite deep and definitely under 70 degrees and the whole day the air never got over 70, but people were doing it.
The last 3 days have been perfect! Friday was an easy 220 miles in partly cloudy calm weather, Saturday was just 20 miles since the tourist park was not available Friday night.
We have now gone almost 3000 miles in 10 days and can see why RVers subscribe to the "rule of 2s" no more than 200 miles a day, stay 2 nights, and be in by 2 PM!
Lake Superior is a big lake. If you go north from Marquette 160 miles you get to Canada. It's even wider at 350 miles. It has 10 percent of the earths fresh water. It would flood all of North and South America 1 foot deep! No salt and no sharks!

I love it up there. The air is so fresh and clean. Still in the upper ninety's here. Glad your having a great time.
ReplyDeleteI see Lyn got her much desired break from the heat. And it sounds like no humidity (yet). We finally got a break from the heatwave here--mid 90's with nighttime lows of 65"ish." The pool is 88. Barely swimmable. Best pictures yet. You look relaxed and happy. Retirement is good.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. You guys are covering a lot of ground rather quickly. Hopefully you can take a bit more time investigating the sights on the return trip. Looks like you are having a blast!~Bill
