We left the internet void and headed to the locks at Sault Ste Marie. We left the coach in a Walmart parking lot and drove a few miles downtown. This place is a Homeland Security site, with barriers and posts and several guard shacks. We walked right though (stealthily)!
We timed it right, as a coast guard ship was just approaching the smaller lock, and got to see the ship and the lock perform.
We went back and connected back up at the Walmart, and headed south 48 miles to St Ignace and the Mackinac Bridge. Five miles of the largest suspension bridge in this hemisphere.
I'm excited, we are so close to civilization, and we're paying $67 for the Petoskey KOA so we're bound to have good internet! Probably fiber optic corked into every coach.
NOT!! but the Verizon was wonderful. We are probably the only coach not streaming video.
We do have a clean car though!
Hi Rich and Lyn....Just got the info on the blog from Bill. For some reason I never got the link. We were in Tahoe all of last week. I'm caught up now on all the crazy and good stuff that has happened on your trip.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks nice. Blue skies. How are the temps. Looks like your having lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved the locks. I think these were the first ones I ever saw. So interesting. We took a tour boat ride through them when were visited. Bob and I both thought that he should have requested a replacement Sault Ste. Marie tee shirt. The one he has is 11 years old and is thread bare. Your pictures are so great they put me back in the moment. Thank you.
