Friday was retracing our path to get back to South Dakota. We stayed in the same place in Wentworth, Wisconsin as last time, but since no rain there was no mud. The owner had a new Shizu puppy which had grown a little!
We took off in the car to see what Duluth had to offer. An old port city undergoing some changes had 5 museums adjacent to each other, so we went there. Duluth, MN is about as far west as you can get on Lake Superior, and was an active mining port and a lot of (immigrant) labor came through. There is still some mining and agriculture shipping. The museums were ho hum, until we got to the trains. These were pretty well restored and described, including the one big ore hauler which was sort of running, and the Lincoln Funeral Car.
That is a cool railroad museum. That rivals the one in Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe this Time my comment will actually appear at the end of your blog. I've commented before but guess I was doing it wrong. Just got caught up, love all the pictures and the descriptions, especially the humorous ones. However, it is definitely time for you to come back home to Fresno! LOL. Drive safe. Jan
ReplyDeleteVery cool. What history. The one with Minnetonka on the side reminded me of our favorite cave you had told us about.~ Bill
