Saturday brought the first of 3 days of festivities on the island.
It kicked of at 10 AM with a parade of antique boats coming up the river lead by the pumper boat, a bi-plane with a newly licensed 19 year old, and a drone. Large and small, wood and fiberglass some totally restored and others operational (or not so), 65 in all!
The neighbors brother does a Gilligan and the Captain thing, but he failed to get his started, so someone volunteered to pull him. One of the marina owners had an old motor (1952) that he sold him for $100, and maybe between the 2 he can get one to run!
Plenty of chatter about who was selling, who bought what, ...she's having chemo?, they sold the store? 2 stores are closing!
The weather was cool and warmed up despite the breeze. Half hour later the parade followed up, with police, fire, coast guard and the Clay Township Airboat! No shortage of candy being thrown to children (and some adults).
Looks like the weather was nice. Nice boats. We are packing up and headed toward Harvey and Irma. Hope Irma stays offshore.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I am really in the mood for boating now! Saw Bob's comment about the hurricanes...Cabo got hit hard by Lidia, but it got very little press. Family in Florida are awaiting Irma too....looks like your weather has been perfectt! I love Lyn's "Captain" shirt....Bill
